Milan Tourist Fair Chooses Syria as One of its Main Partners

Milan, (SANA). International Milan Tourist Fair BIT 2009 chose Syria as a main partner for its promotional campaign for tourism this year.
This choice came after a promotional campaign launched by the Ministry of Tourism on the media, streets, and metro stations in Milan which were focused on the position of Syria in the international religious and cultural tourism and its closeness to Europe, as well as the good quality of the tourist product and the originality of tourism in Syria.
Italian travel and tourism agencies adopted Syria on the tourist destinations list and as one of their tourism investment interests.In the mean time, the Syrian pavilion in the Milan exhibition held currently is witnessing a great turnout of international travel and tourism agencies.
The pavilion has also turned into an open workshop between the Syrian and Italian travel and tourism offices.
For his part, the Syrian Tourism Minister, Saadalla Agha al-Qalaa, indicated that the British newspaper Sunday Mail has qualified Syria as one of the top ten tourist destinations in the world.
He also indicated that one of the experts in world tourism, in a report conducted by the British newspaper The Telegraph, chose Damascus to be the best tourist destination for 2009.
In a lecture about the Syrian tourism in the IULM University of Milan for Languages and Communications, the Syrian Minister talked about the monuments and archeological locations and the safety, stability, intimacy and harmony atmosphere in Syria indicating the contribution of the Syrian civilization concerning the civilization of Rome: emperors and popes.
