Aleppo
This is the second capital of Syria (350 km north of Damascus), and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in history.
Aleppo Citadel:
50 m above the city, ring of crenellated walls and towers rises , It was built in the days of Sayf Al Dawla Al Hamadani.On the north and south sides, great towers rise above the moat. The main parts of the citadel are: The throne room, the bathroom, the small mosque (Ibrahim's mosque).
The Great Mosque:
Built in 1213 it has square minaret is 21 m high and from which can be seen splendid view.
Ancient Market(Al Souk):
The Aleppo covered market are the longest in the world. They are seven kilometers long combined and have 39 market each with its own trading specialty of goods and.
Baths:
Most important baths in Aleppo are Al Nuhassien, Al Bayad, Yalbougha Al Naseri, Azdamar, Al Sultan and Al Jawahiri. They were all built between the 12th and 15th centuries.
Ain Dara:
Dark, igneous rocks such as diorite and granite, as well as basalt, of the type used for the Ain Dara animals, are to be found in this particular area of southern Anatolia and northwestern Syria.
Adliyeh Mosque:
This mosque is the oldest Ottoman mosque in Aleppo. It's decorated with enameled ceramic tiles of Ottoman style.
Saint Simon Citadel:
In Arabic "Qalaat Semaan", that bears the name of the ascetic Saint- Simon (4th century AD), who spent forty-two years of his life here. It’s isolated on the top of a column that was several times made higher (reaching up to about 20 m). It is to be noted that at the foot of the hill of Saint-Simon, a village: Deir Semaan, relayed to the monastery by a processional road, also housed many pilgrims.
